    3 Self-Development Summer Reads by The Confidence Coach @velvetevolution

    Summer is here, and this means it’s time to buy books to read on a beach.

    So rather than my usual one new book of the month read, this month I am recommending my top 3 reads to give you a summer holiday of healthy, happy, confident self-development.  These three books have made my book recommendations in previous years and months and looking back these three books have had the biggest and most profound impact on my life and those of my clients.  Each book looks at the self and our relationships with our minds and emotions in different and yet complimentary ways.  Therefore, it is my view that by reading these three books, you will receive a wealth of information, practical tools and techniques, and insights about how you view the world, how you interact in the world and how you can become the best version of you.

     

    DARING GREATLY by Brene Brown is about the power of vulnerability, and teaches you how to embrace feelings of vulnerability through connection, courage and compassion allowing you to live wholeheartedly.  This book is about emotional health and well-being.  Click here to read my full book review from August 2013.

    MINDSET by Dr Carol Dweck explores how a fixed mindset can limit you, and how a growth mindset can empower you to face life’s challenges.  Packed with real life examples the tools and techniques are brought to life to enable you to identify which mindset you use under different circumstances, and how you can benefit from a mindset shift to help you fulfil your potential.  This book is about mental well-being.  Click here to read my full book review from March 2012.

    THE CHIMP PARADOX by Prof. Steve Peters is a great book for self management.  We all have that voice in our head that tells us we can’t do something, or we are not good enough.  Prof. Peters calls that voice your Chimp and teaches you how to feed and manage that voice to enable you to be the best version of you and reduce your capacity to self-sabotage.  This book is about the relationship between emotions and the mind.  Click here to read my full book review from May 2013.

     

    Now call me old fashioned but I’m still a paper book reader, I love the feel of a book.  However, all three books that I’m recommending here for your summer holiday reads are available as e-books, audiobooks or paperbacks.
